Open house
today at Rocky Ridge Refuge |
| The plight of Rocky Ridge Refuge
in Monkey Run captured the imagination of Twin Lakes Area residents
recently, and now they are invited to attend a potluck luncheon to
celebrate completion of the animal refuge's construction project at noon
today. Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eddie Majeste says the community will celebrate the completion of the building project at the refuge. He asked those who will attend to bring a dish. There will be tables set up for the potluck. People will be able to view the animals at the refuge, including Lurch, the world famous Watusi steer who recently was featured on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," along with refuge owner Janice Wolf During the same show, Zootoo.com owner Richard Thompson announced he would help Wolf by building a barn for her animals and paying for a year's worth of food for the refuge. Thompson has been in town since last Wednesday when the old barn was demolished and building a new one started. Majeste estimates there have been between 125 and 150 volunteers from the community who have helped throughout the week |
