1/11/08: Plum is ready for a home.  Still a bit shy, she has made progress in her socialization. (see below).  She has gotten along well with the other dogs that share her space. With the right family to give her the patience and attention she needs, she will make a fantastic companion.  She is still young, under 2 years old so has some growing to do.  She is already a big, pretty girl with a charming personality that is just asking for someone special to love her unconditionally.

Leonbergers

Nov. 3, 2007: This is why NO PUPPY MILL pups and NO PET STORE PUPS.  These poor babies, along with 4 others were rescued at auction.  They came from a puppy mill that claimed "they were lovingly raised in the house".  Considering they are terrified of people, the world in general and all are skin and bones, if this is love, I hate to see what they consider unloved.  These 4 are being fostered here at Rocky Ridge.  Counting across, #1 is barely over a year old and has already had a litter of puppies. The male in photo #2  like the others has had no socialization and is so frightened he did not eat the first day. He won't even look you in the eye.  #3 is the littermate to #1 and may be pregnant.   #4 is a 6 month old pup that is about the size of a typical healthy 3 month old Leo.  All of these are very small and poor examples for the breed.  They are all extremely thin and full of parasites.
